Vigen Strandpark – Beach at Roskilde Fjord

Vigen Strandpark is located north of Roskilde between Veddelev and Roskilde and is a popular beach area along Roskilde Fjord. Sand, green meadows and wide fjord views create a scenic coastal setting close to the city.

The beach stretches approximately 300 metres and is 10–15 metres wide, featuring fine sand with a few small stones. A bathing jetty extends into the fjord, and outdoor showers are available. Roskilde Camping behind the beach provides toilet facilities. Dogs are welcome, and the beach holds the Blue Flag certification for water quality and facilities.

SUP and experiences on Roskilde Fjord

Vigen Strandpark is a convenient starting point for stand-up paddleboarding on Roskilde Fjord. From the water, there are views of Roskilde Cathedral and the Viking Ship Museum, where reconstructed Viking ships sail the fjord. A suggested route leads towards Veddelev Harbour and across to Kattinge Vig, offering sheltered waters and scenic break spots near Boserup Forest.

The fjord features small islands, islets and charming villages along the shoreline. A large part of the area forms part of Skjoldungernes Land National Park, offering distinctive nature experiences from the water.
