Overnight stay by the fjord in Boserup Forest

Kong Roar’s Shelter Site, near Roskilde on the island of Zealand west of Copenhagen, is beautifully located by the beach in the north-eastern part of Boserup Forest, with direct access to Roskilde Fjord. Surrounded by forest and fjord, the site is an ideal place to stay overnight for hikers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts seeking peace, nature and accommodation close to the water. A Danish shelter is a simple wooden overnight structure with an open front. Bring your own sleeping bag and sleeping mat.

There are three shelters on the site, each accommodating between 6 and 8 people. The shelters are spaced slightly apart and face north, south and west respectively, providing both shelter from the wind and views of the surrounding landscape.

Booking the shelters

Advance booking is required. Book your shelter with the Danish Nature Agency and check its current booking conditions.

Getting there

The shelter site is located 1.8 km from the nearest parking area at Parking Boserup Forest South, opposite Boserupvej 81, 4000 Roskilde. Bus 207 between Roskilde and Osted stops close to the parking area at the stop Sorte Sti on Boserupvej.

From the parking area or bus stop, follow the forest paths to reach the shelter site.

In autumn, fish can often be seen migrating to their spawning grounds, and in winter there may be shoals of sea trout.
