Sleep beneath the universe

On the peaceful grounds of the Observatory in Brorfelde, four dome-shaped stargazing shelters await, created for a truly special nature experience. Here, you stay close to the vastness of space, surrounded by open landscapes and darkness deep enough for the stars to truly shine.

The shelters are insulated yet open to nature, and each one features a large window facing the night sky. Each shelter accommodates 6-8 people and is ideal for families, groups of friends, and small communities.

Nature, silence and togetherness

As evening falls, calm settles over the Observatory. Light the shared campfire, prepare food under the open sky, and feel the stillness broken only by the wind moving through the landscape. The area around Brorfelde is shaped by a dramatic Ice Age landscape, inviting both short evening walks and longer explorations. Here, there is room for presence, conversation, and a welcome pause from everyday life.

A unique place to stay

The stargazing shelters are located directly on the Observatory grounds, offering access to a setting where science, nature, and experiences come together. The overnight stay combines simple comfort with a rare opportunity to experience true darkness and a star-filled sky far from the city lights.

Admission to the Observatory can be added when your stay coincides with its opening days. See the current options when booking.

Practical and easy to access

The shelters must be booked in advance. One bag of firewood is included. Check-in is from noon and check-out is by 10 am the following day. Water and a compost toilet are available on site. Dogs are welcome on a lead at the site but are not allowed inside the shelters.

From the car park, it is approximately 500 metres along a prepared path, and each shelter has a handcart for luggage. The Ice Age Route, cycle route 44, passes directly by the area, making it easy to combine your stay with hiking or cycling.
