Enjoy an Easter lunch on Zealand

Photo: Anders Hviid

There is no shortage of Easter lunches on Zealand, just 30 minutes from Copenhagen. We have put together a list of inspiration from Lejre, Roskilde and Frederikssund.

The Easter lunch is a cosy Danish tradition where family and friends gather to enjoy good food and pleasant company. The menu typically features classic dishes such as pickled herring, eggs, salmon, lamb and warm dishes, accompanied by schnapps and Easter beer. In Roskilde, Lejre and Frederikssund, you will find restaurants and eateries that provide a flavoursome Easter experience with a focus on togetherness and good food.

Restaurant Herthadalen

Visit Restaurant Herthadalen, set in the heart of the forest’s idyllic surroundings in Zealand’s first national park – Skjoldungernes Land – at the end of Northern Europe’s longest avenue. Experience the flavours of the season, based on local, organic ingredients sourced directly from Herthadalen’s own field, Herthamarken. Here, the concept of “People and Meals” is at the heart of sustainable gastronomic experiences.

As tradition dictates, Herthadalen keeps the restaurant open over Easter, offering a delicious Easter menu made with local produce and greens from Herthamarken.
