Kalvøen was joined to Frederikssund by land reclamation in the 1870s. Today this area beside Roskilde Fjord on Zealand brings together green spaces, leisure activities and cultural history close to the town centre.

Paths link the town with the marinas and grassy areas by the water. Tennis courts, football pitches, a sports hall and a restaurant are also found here. Enjoy a walk beside the fjord or include Kalvøen in a longer outing around Frederikssund.

Viking history by the fjord

Kalvøen is home to a reconstructed Viking settlement and the outdoor stage used by Frederikssund Vikingespil, a theatrical tradition associated with the area since 1952. Explore the settlement and landscape as part of your outing; performances and special events have their own admission arrangements.
