Færgelunden - woodland and the Schweizerhus by Roskilde Fjord
Walk among mature beech and conifer trees in Færgelunden, near Jægerspris on Zealand. This woodland beside Roskilde Fjord contains ancient burial mounds and the Schweizerhus, a former royal pleasure house.

Færgelunden is woodland beside Roskilde Fjord, near Jægerspris on the island of Zealand. Mature beech and conifer trees surround ancient burial mounds dating from the late Stone Age and the Bronze Age. Some were excavated by King Frederik VII, who had a keen interest in archaeology.
The Schweizerhus woodland retreat
The little Schweizerhus, or Swiss-style house, was built in 1794 by Hereditary Prince Frederik and Sophie Frederikke as a pleasure house. It once overlooked the fjord. Today, mature trees screen the view, but you can still see the house on a walk through Færgelunden.
