Horse-drawn carriage rides and Christmas activities for the whole family

The sound of horses' hooves on the cobblestones sets the scene as the horse-drawn carriage makes its way through the historic streets of Roskilde. Afterwards, visitors can meet the Friesian horses and take a festive photograph in the decorated Christmas sleigh.

Children can also help Nicolas, the Christmas elf from the old merchant's shop, discover the secret code to unlock a large chest of Christmas decorations and bring festive cheer back to the merchant's courtyard.

Traditional Christmas shopping and old-fashioned festive treats

Inside the historic merchant's shop, the fire crackles in the tiled stove, while the scent of spices and the sound of the coffee grinder evoke the atmosphere of a bygone era. The shelves are filled with paper Christmas decorations, hand-blown glass ornaments, festive sweets and traditional specialities for the Christmas table.

In the courtyard, sausages are served from traditional Danish hot dog stands, and visitors can sample a variety of seasonal treats.

Traditional crafts at the Crafts Museum

At the Crafts Museum, children and adults alike can explore an extensive collection of historic tools and learn about traditional crafts. Visitors can also make a small wooden item to take home as a personal Christmas gift.
