Shelter site Gulddysse West

Shelterpladsen Gulddysse West is a quiet and nature-based place to stay in a small woodland close to Roskilde Fjord, ideal for walkers, cyclists and small groups.

A small woodland made for peace and togetherness

Tucked away in a small pine woodland near Gundsømagle, Shelter site Gulddysse Vest offers a quiet and undisturbed place to stay, ideal for walkers, cyclists and small groups seeking a simple nature experience close to Roskilde Fjord.

The site consists of two closely situated shelters with space for approximately 15 people in total. The woodland setting provides natural shelter and a sense of being far removed from everyday life, even though both town and fjord are close by. There is plenty of room for socialising around the campfire, as well as opportunities to enjoy the silence and the sounds of the forest.

Campfire and basic facilities

A designated campfire area invites you to cook over an open fire and enjoy cosy evenings beneath the treetops. Firewood or charcoal must be brought along. There are no rubbish bins on site, so please take all waste with you and leave the area as you would like to find it. Tents are not permitted at the shelter site.

Free booking and priority for overnight stays

Overnight stays at Shelterpladsen Gulddysse Vest require free booking via udinaturen.dk. Guests with a valid reservation have priority access to the site when staying overnight.

The shelter site can be booked up to three months in advance for a maximum of two consecutive nights. When not used for overnight stays, the site may be used freely, but it is reserved for schools and institutions of Roskilde Municipality on weekdays between 8 am and 4 pm.

Easy access and close to outdoor routes

Access is straightforward: park at the car park opposite Gulddysse Cultural Farm at Gulddyssevej 70 in Gundsømagle. From here, follow the path approximately 300 metres west. After passing through the small pine woodland, the shelter site is located on the right-hand side.

The shelter site is also within easy reach of the Fjord Trail, Regional Route 40, which runs about 2.3 km from the site and offers scenic walking and cycling experiences along Roskilde Fjord.
