Sct. Hans Have – the gardens within the garden by the fjord

Sct. Hans Have is a truly unique meeting and conference venue in the heart of Skjoldungernes Land National Park by Roskilde Fjord. Here, the tranquillity of nature is combined with creative spaces for dialogue, reflection and immersion – surrounded by lush gardens, greenhouses and historic landscapes that together create the setting for truly distinctive meetings and events.

Meeting and conference venue in green, historic gardens

Sct. Hans Have is not only a beautiful green meeting place – it is also a social enterprise with a clear purpose: to promote mental well-being through nature, community and meaningful work. The garden involves people in vulnerable life situations in the care of the gardens as well as in the café and horticultural work. When you hold your meeting here, you help support an inclusive working community where the idea of “the need to be needed” is an active and fundamental part of the place.

Unique meeting facilities in green surroundings

Sct. Hans Have offers a range of flexible meeting facilities set in the heart of nature:

  • The Glass Garden and the Small Greenhouse
Here you can bring participants together for full-day, morning or afternoon meetings beneath vines, fig and almond trees, with the sky as the ceiling. The setting is particularly well suited to idea development, planning and conversations in bright, living surroundings.
  • The Orangery
The Orangery is a bright and inspiring space with views of flower beds and the life of the garden. It is well suited to smaller, intimate meetings where calm, presence, creativity and concentration are required.
  • The surrounding gardens
The lush garden spaces around the buildings create natural settings for walk & talk sessions, group work, reflection, breaks and immersion in the open air.

The green surroundings do more than simply provide a beautiful backdrop. Nature actively contributes to the meeting day by promoting calm, inspiration and presence, and can support focus, creativity and engagement.

The garden kitchen – flavourful, organic meeting catering

As part of the meeting experience, Sct. Hans Have offers its own garden kitchen, with a focus on seasonal ingredients, care for nature and skilled craftsmanship. The kitchen uses organic berries, herbs, fruit and edible flowers – grown in the garden or supplied by local producers – and creates simple, flavoursome meeting catering tailored to the day’s programme.

The meeting day can be put together flexibly, from a morning meeting with breakfast and lunch to an afternoon meeting with coffee and homemade cake. There is also the option of a business lunch in the greenhouses or in the garden’s green spaces, where meals become a natural and inspiring part of the day.

Guided tours, nature walks and experiences

The meeting can be supplemented with guided tours of the garden or a walk along the Fjord Path – the scenic route that connects the garden with the city of Roskilde and Boserup Forest. During the guided tours, you gain insight into the garden’s long history, from the original hospital nursery more than 200 years ago to the modern, inclusive nature garden that today supports mental health and biodiversity.

The garden’s design is characterised by ambitions of calm, experience and sensory richness. Here you will find both active garden spaces and quiet places where the sense of distance from everyday demands is clear, allowing participants to rediscover focus and balance.

In addition, throughout the year the garden provides a setting for a range of events, including concerts, yoga, meditation and art exhibitions in the nearby chapel, which can add an extra dimension to the meeting experience.
