Niks Malergård shelter- and tent site

Stay close to nature in a large, private organic garden with a shelter and tent area by the small Birkede Forest.

Overnight stay in shelter and tents

At Niks Malergård there is one shelter with space for 4–6 people, as well as good opportunities to pitch tents in the garden. The garden offers plenty of space whether you are travelling alone, as a couple or in a small group, with a clear sense of distance from everyday noise and pace.

Nature, tranquillity and open surroundings

The garden is designed according to the “wild with intention” principle and offers a rich sensory nature experience with room for reflection. The stay is primitive, with no established toilet facilities, and takes place on nature’s terms. Dogs and horses are welcome, provided they are fully under control.

For guests with limited mobility, it is possible to borrow a private camp bed in the shelter by prior arrangement.

Firewood for campfires must be brought along, although smaller branches can often be found in the nearby natural surroundings.

Practical access and booking

Overnight stays require prior agreement with the owner, as the garden and shelter are also used privately. The shelter cannot be reserved exclusively and is therefore shared with other guests who have been granted access. To book a place in the shelter, arrangements must be made in advance with the owner, Nini Højby Pedersen, by phone or email.

Access is limited to pedestrians, cyclists and riders, as there is no access by car.

Close to walking and cycling routes

The area around Niks Malergård invites exploration of open countryside and nearby woodland. The Ice Age Route, National Cycle Route 44, runs approximately 6.5 km from the shelter site at Hvalsøvej/Lejrevej north of Osted and offers good opportunities to combine overnight stays with walking or cycling tours.
