Shelters for groups and shared stays
On the large, privately owned outdoor site, you will find two spacious shelters – each accommodating 5–6 people – set in the calm surroundings of the forest. The area is comfortably arranged with a campfire site and basic facilities, making it well suited as a base for relaxed weekend breaks as well as longer hiking or cycling trips.
Firewood can be purchased on site, allowing you to cook over the open fire or keep warm around the fire as the sun sets.
Space for tents and hammocks
In addition to the shelters, there is space to pitch tents, as well as a separate hammock area for those seeking a more minimalist outdoor experience or for groups larger than the shelter capacity.
Nature and experiences around the site
The shelters are located on the edge of the Bidstrup Forests and close to Særløse Overdrev – a scenic area of open grassland and woodland with rolling terrain, small hills and streams, ideal for walks and nature experiences.
Shops and additional outdoor activities can be found just a few kilometres away.
Hiking and cycling routes nearby
From the Friluftsladen site, you have easy access to several established routes:
- Skjoldungestien – a long-distance hiking trail that runs directly alongside the site.
- The Danish Pilgrim Route – another hiking route that passes close to the area.
- Istidsruten (Cycle Route 44) – approximately 600 metres from the site along Tjørnehusvej.
- Munkevejen (Cycle Route 88) – approximately 900 metres away along Tjørnehusvej.

The shelters are located in a private forest just outside Hvalsø, with parking for a few cars available at the entrance to the site.
