Kulhuse Strand - sandy beach by Isefjord
Kulhuse Strand is a sandy beach beside Isefjord at the tip of the Hornsherred peninsula on Zealand, west of Copenhagen. Combine a swim with a break on the grass or a walk around Kulhuse Harbour. The water becomes deep close to shore.

A beach beside Kulhuse Harbour
At the end of Kulhusvej, a broad sandy beach overlooks Isefjord. The grassy area beside the beach is a pleasant place to take a break between swims. Bear in mind that the water becomes deep close to shore.
The beach is next to Kulhuse Harbour. Nearby are the remains of Englænderskansen, a coastal fortification built to protect the gunpowder and cannon factories in Frederiksværk from attack by sea. Despite its name, it was a Danish defence against the British navy. Explore the history of Englænderskansen.
Planning your beach visit
There is parking by the harbour and a public toilet beside the harbour building. Find beach facilities and rules for dogs, and check the latest bathing water notices before swimming.
