At Højtoft, located in the village of Ordrup, families can enjoy a peaceful weekend or holiday surrounded by nature and animals. A child- and dog-friendly place with plenty of space both indoors and out.
What to expect
Højtoft is a carefully restored smallholding with a large country garden, surrounded by fields, woodland, and bird-rich lakes. The first floor (50 m²) is rented to one family at a time and includes up to five beds, a private bathroom, access to the kitchen, lounges, a billiards room, and the entire garden. The fenced garden features old trees, herbs, fruit, and options for camping in a tent or shelter.
Things to enjoy
Guests can enjoy the view from the garden, make use of the firepit and barbecue, or play outdoor games. Children and adults can meet Icelandic horses and the Shetland pony Trold – who is known to peek into the house. Guests are welcome to spend time with the horses and book riding experiences. The dog Daisy is also happy to greet new friends.
Practical information
The kitchen is fully equipped and shared with the hosts. Smoking is allowed outdoors or in the workshop. Bed linen, towels, and final cleaning are included. The staircase to the first floor is wide and accessible. A high chair, toys, and books for children are available, along with laundry facilities.
All year round
The shelter can be used throughout the year. In autumn and winter, the surroundings change character – from fallen apples and colourful leaves to snow-covered branches and the winter light across the fields. The wood-burning stove is lit in the lounge, and the birdlife can be enjoyed from the kitchen window.
Local area and transport
The Ordrup area features Ice Age landscapes, bird lakes, and access to the Isefjord. Excellent opportunities exist for hiking, mountain biking, and year-round swimming. Public transport is available 300 metres from the property, connecting to Hvalsø Station.
