Autumn has arrived. Here are some ideas to help you get outside and experience the season in the areas of Lejre, Roskilde and Frederikssund — three towns located around the scenic Roskilde Fjord on Zealand, eastern Denmark.

Collect your own blue mussels

Learn how to gather blue mussels safely and head out on your own foraging trip. Blue mussels are in season from September to April.
Gordon P. Henriksen, a well-known Danish outdoorsman and angler, has been visiting the Fjordland region and shares inspiration and practical advice on how to enjoy your own wild nature experiences.
Together with a couple of friends in his log cabin, he explains where, when and how you can collect mussels and oysters. He also offers inspiration for preparing two of his favourite dishes: smoked blue mussels with smoked herb butter and porter-steamed blue mussels.
